You may notice when you come into the office this month that we are all wearing pink ROG shirts, but they are also a little different.
Breast cancer awareness month comes around every October and most of us support it with a display of pink in some manner. However, it can be a struggle to find a way to really make a difference in the life of someone who is fighting breast cancer during her lifetime. According to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, 1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer during her lifetime. That is an astounding number and, realistically, it means we will each have someone or multiple people close to us impacted by this over the course of our lives. There have been many advancements in treatment and, as of 2015, there is a 5-year survival rate of 89%. While this can be encouraging, it does not make dealing with a diagnosis any easier.

Causes are always more poignant when they touch us on a personal level. Last month, Dr. Nat’s best friend lost her battle with breast cancer on the same day that ROG team member, Tracey, lost her sister-in-law to this devastating disease. Clinical veteran, Cheryl, cherishes every moment with her sister, a breast cancer survivor. The loss is personal this year for so many of the ROG team and their families.
We invite you to join us this year in our effort to FIGHT breast cancer in raising awareness. Help us make a small difference in the big fight to FIND A CURE. The team has specially designed ROG “GO. FIGHT. CURE.” shirts and will be taking orders and accepting donations. The minimum donation for a shirt is $15 – you are welcome to donate any amount you would like, and all of the proceeds will be going to the McGlinn Cancer Institute.
Like these shirts? For your tax-deductible donation of $15 or more to the McGlinn Cancer Institute, we’ll send you a shirt. Contact our office by emailing email@example.com with your size preference.
