YOUR FIRST VISIT…

Get ready for an exciting adventure in the world of orthodontics! From the time you arrive at Reading Orthodontic Group’s office for this hour-long appointment, you will realize that CARING is the key word of the day. At our office we pride ourselves on educating our patients each step of the way, and you will leave our office with a full understanding of the amazing possibilities available in this field of dentistry.
You will be greeted in the reception area and taken to one of our two exam rooms for a series of photos and x-rays with our digital imaging system for viewing during your exam. Beth or Robin, our Treatment Coordinators, will take you on a tour of our office so that you get an idea of what it’s like to be a patient here, and prepare you for your visit with the doctor. If timing is right for orthodontic treatment, the doctors will recommend a specific treatment plan to meet your needs.
The first orthodontic exam does not always result in a recommendation for immediate treatment. After an evaluation, the doctors may simply want to check you periodically.

These observation visits are very important because the doctor can evaluate factors such as growth of the jaws, loss of baby teeth, eruption of the adult teeth and the effect of habits such as thumb-sucking, tongue-thrusting and mouth-breathing. These early visits allow the doctors to determine how to treat your orthodontic problems (click to see common orthodontic problems) with the least time and expense, and optimum improvement and comfort. As a result, many potential problems can be kept to a minimum and the duration of orthodontic treatment can be greatly reduced.

REGULAR APPOINTMENTS...

The appointment when you get your initial appliances (braces, expanders, etc.) usually takes 90 minutes. You will then see us at regular intervals of 8 to 10 weeks apart for adjustments (which take 20 minutes on average). We make every effort to be on time for our patients and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately. It can be difficult to reschedule since appointments are made 8 weeks in advance.

PAYMENT OPTIONS...

Cost of treatment is based on each patient's prognosis, as well as the quality of care patients receive in our office. This will also be discussed at the initial exam prior to beginning any treatment, making the most of the valuable time you have set aside from your busy schedule to meet with us. The doctors have set aside one hour for your visit with NO FEE for this initial consultation. So that we may continue offering this as a COURTESY visit, please contact the office in advance should you need to reschedule. It is recommended that both parents attend this first visit if possible.

In an effort to keep orthodontic fees down while maintaining the highest level of professional care, we have established this financial policy:

· If payment is made in full at the onset of treatment, we offer a bookkeeping courtesy fee. For your convenience, we accept payment by VISA and MasterCard.
· In cases of serious delinquency, treatment will be placed on a maintenance level, until financial arrangements are made. We will make every effort to accommodate patients with temporary difficulties.

INSURANCE...

Assignment of benefits is sent directly to you, the subscriber. We will forward the appropriate forms to you to expedite filing your claim. We recommend contacting your employer or insurance company directly for any questions you may have regarding your benefits. View your Insurance Benefits Sheet.
